Troubleshooting Tips

You may be required to use your password or PIN after the first time you log in with newly enrolled fingerprints.The “your device is having trouble recognizing you” error message is generated by Windows, not your Verifi fingerprint reader. This error message is almost always a false positive.If your fingerprint reader is connected to your computer via USB hub, try connecting the reader directly to one of your computer’s USB ports instead.Keep your fingerprint sensor clean using a small amount rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth.While enrolling your fingerprint, hold your finger flat and still on the sensor. Do not swipe or slide. Your finger should cover as much of the sensor as comfortably as possible. Lift and place your finger repeatedly, making sure you are placing your finger in the same position each time. Ideally, your finger should touch the top and bottom of the metal border around the sensor.If your Verifi fingerprint reader suddenly becomes unresponsive even though it was successfully installed, you may need to adjust your computer’s power management options. See below.

Open the Windows Device ManagerRight-click TouchChip under “Biometric Devices”Select “Properties”Open the “Power Management” tab (you must be logged on as an administrator to see this tab)Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”Click “OK”
