Troubleshooting Tips

You may be required to use your password or PIN after the first time you log in with newly enrolled fingerprints.The “your device is having trouble recognizing you” error message is generated by Windows, not your Verifi fingerprint reader. This error message is almost always a false positive.If your fingerprint reader is connected to your computer via USB hub, try connecting the reader directly to one of your computer’s USB ports instead.Keep your fingerprint sensor clean using a small amount rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth.If your Verifi fingerprint reader suddenly becomes unresponsive even though it was successfully installed, you may need to adjust your computer’s power management options. See below.

Open the Windows Device ManagerRight-click AuthenTec Inc. AES2550 under “Biometric Devices”Select “Properties”Open the “Power Management” tab (you must be logged on as an administrator to see this tab)Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”Click “OK”
