Product Description

This device is used to monitor GFCI or outlet power failure. It is powered by a USB charger, with an internal backup battery(included). It monitors the power 24/7 and sends out the alert through Wi-Fi. Only 2.4GHz WiFi is supported.

If the power is normal, the device will be powered by the USB charger and the green LED will be ON.If there is a power failure, the power supply will be switched to the internal battery and the green LED will be OFF. At the same time, a power OFF alert will be sent out to you immediately.The 85db buzzer is enabled by default. When the power fails, the buzzer will sound up to 30 seconds before you press the black switch to mute it. The buzzer can be disabled during the device setting if you prefer not to hear the buzzer when power fails.

Very easy and straight forward to setup the device

After the USB charger connects to the device, the green LED will be ON. Press the white switch to turn on the device. The red LED will start to flash. Within 5 seconds, press the black switch to enter the setup mode.

The red LED will stop flashing and stay ON. At this moment, the device turns into a WiFi Hotspot temporarily(for setup only). Let your smart phone or laptop join this device WiFi hotspot.

Open a web browser in your phone or laptop, and input the setup webpage address. After filling out this single setup page, click “Save and Restart”. Your will receive a confirmation email soon. From now on, the device will monitor the power 24/7.

Some other notes before your purchase:

The device cannot send out the power OFF alert (different from the device OFFLINE alert) if your WiFi network or internet service is also down during the power outage, for example when the whole house power outage. In this scenario, you may need a small Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS) for your WiFi router to maintain WiFi connection and internet service, so that the device can still send you the power OFF alert.This is the 2nd generation product, with a new feature to send alerts via the direct text message to 2 phones. We pay for each text message to the cell carrier, and it should be reliable/quick. 300 free text messages come with the purchase, which can cover more than 5 years for most users, and can be renewed for free after 5 years. Only US/Canada phones are supported currently.Alert/notification via email is unlimited and free permanently.This note is ONLY for the user who needs more than 2 phones to receive the text alert. Some users of our 1st generation product uses Email-to-SMS service, which converts the email to text message and is a free service provided by the cell carrier, to receive the text alert. However, some cell carriers still provide reliable service on its Email-to-SMS but others NOT. You can still use Email-to-SMS to register your 3rd,4th,…, phones to the device for free, but the reliability of the Email-to-SMS message depends on your cell carrier.

Explanation on the cases of the device setup failure:

Our device setup is easy and straightforward for most users so far. However, there are still a few users who could not set up our device successfully, so that the device could not join user’s WiFi network, and hence no alert can be sent/received. Based on the return units we re-tested and the cases escalated to our support, we found that most setup issues were as below and could be avoided/resolved.

WiFi network name/password are not input correctly, due to typo, misusing upper/lower case, etc.WiFi network is 5GHz, which is not supported by our device. As most smart home/IoT devices, our device only supports 2.4GHz WiFi. However, most WiFi routers nowadays could run both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi networks simultaneously. After 2.4GHz WiFi network is enabled, the issue gets resolved.Some WiFi routers, very few but do exist, have the default/special setting which blocks the smart home/IoT devices, including our power failure detector, to join WiFi network. After the setting is changed, our device joins WiFi network successfully.

In all, if there is the setup failure, it is not necessary our device is defective. Please just send an email to our support, who has a lot of experiences and will help you resolve it.

The device requires a CR2 backup battery, included in the package. The backup battery can last for more than 5 years under the average power outage conditions. Under normal circumstances, it is powered by the A/C outlet, which it monitors.
